FedEx, one of the world's largestexpress delivery and transportation companies, joined forces withthe China Association for the Development of Hearing Medicine andthe Xi'an Disabled Persons Federation today to launch the"Assistance Action for Poor and Hearing Impaired Children" publicwelfare project. Li Heqi, Secretary of the Party Group of Xi'anDisabled Persons' Federation, Chen Jialiang, President of FedExChina, and Tian Chang'an, Vice Chairman of China Hearing MedicineDevelopment Association, jointly attended the project launchceremony held at the Second Deaf School in Xi'an.
Since 2013, FedEx has become apublic welfare partner of the China Association for the Developmentof Hearing Medicine, donating RMB 1 million to the association tocarry out a three-year public welfare project for impoverishedhearing-impaired children in western China. The project aims todonate advanced hearing aids to hearing-impaired children fromeconomically disadvantaged families, helping them recover orimprove their damaged hearing with the help of assistive devices,thereby mastering social and learning abilities, and returning tonormal social life as soon as possible.
The first stop of the project waschosen in Xi'an and received strong support and assistance from theXi'an Disabled Persons Federation. With their help andorganization, the project first conducted preliminary hearing testsand screening for deaf students aged 6-15 who met the donationcriteria at Xi'an Second Deaf School. Finally, 24 donors wereidentified and one-on-one binaural hearing aids were provided andcustomized. These hearing-impaired students are all from migrantworkers and urban low-income families, whose annual income is below10000 yuan. This batch of advanced hearing aids donated withoutcompensation will undoubtedly improve the of life of thesechildren and have a positive impact on their future lives. At thelaunch ceremony, employees of FedEx Xi'an Branch volunteered tohelp children wear hearing aids tailored to each individual, andhad simple language and listening conversations with them on site.They congratulated them on returning to the wonderful world ofsound and encouraged them to actively engage in learning and sociallife in the future.
